The Tartan / Plaid.Strathearn is the strath of the River Earn, in Scotland. It extends from Loch Earn in Perth and Kinross to the River Tay. The royal dukedom of Strathearn has occasionally been awarded to members of the British Royal Family. Prince William was created Earl of Strathearn, on 29 April 2011, the day of his wedding to Catherine Middleton. The tartan has since risen in popularity due to Catherine, now Duchess of Strathearn, wearing the tartan on her official visits to Scotland. A bright modern tartan incorporating red, yellow and green. The Duchess has worn the tartan in the form of a scarf with both red and yellow outfits. The tartan is referred to as being Modern, but is only modern in the sense that in the 1800’s chemical dyes became available which created a fashion for these bold bright colours.
